Mechanism of action singulair and power point
Pharmacotherapeutic group
SINGULAIR (montelukast sodium) is a selective and active oral application leykotrienovyh receptor antagonist, which specifically inhibits CysLT1-receptors tsisteinilovyh leukotrienes.
INDICATIONS
SINGULAIR is shown to adults and children for the prevention and long-term treatment of asthma, including prevention of asthma symptoms during day and night, for the treatment of asthma patients sensitive to aspirin and to prevent bronhrospazmov caused by physical exertion.
DOSAGE AND INTRODUCTION
Adults aged 15 and older
Dosage for adults over 15 years is one tablet, 10 mg daily at bedtime.
Children aged 6 to 14 years
Dosage for children 6-14 years old is one chewable tablet 5 mg daily at bedtime. Selection of dosing for this age group is not required. Safety and effectiveness of medicines for children under 6 years is not installed.
General recommendations
The therapeutic effect of SINGULAIR on parameters reflecting the severity of asthma develops in one day. SINGULAIR may be taken without regard to meals. A patient should be encouraged to continue taking SINGULAIR, even after achieving control of asthma symptoms, as well as in periods of exacerbation of asthma.
For older patients, patients with renal insufficiency, and patients with mild or moderate hepatic impairment, and regardless of sex selection of the dose is not required.

Reducing the dose related drugs:

PRECAUTIONS
The effectiveness of oral SINGULAIR for the treatment of acute asthma attacks has not been established. Therefore, oral SINGULAIR tablets should not be used for relief of acute astmatichestkih attacks. Patients need to recommend to carry the appropriate medication to relieve seizures.

PREGNANCY

Interactions with other drugs
SINGULAIR may be administered together with other drugs, traditionally used for prevention and long-term treatment of asthma. SIDE EFFECTS

Adults aged 15 and older
Effects of SINGULAIR have been studied in clinical trials in approximately 2600 adult patients aged 15 years and older. In two similar 12-week, placebo-controlled clinical trials in 1% of patients receiving SINGULAIR, only the symptoms of abdominal pain and headache were associated with the use of drugs. The frequency of these effects was higher than for placebo, and were not significantly different in the two treatment groups.
In total, during clinical trials SINGULAIR received 544 patients at least 6 months, 253 – within 1 year and 21 patients – within 2 years. With long-term treatment profile of adverse reactions has not changed.
Children aged 6 to 14 years
SINGULAIR is also studied in approximately 320 children aged 6 to 14 years. In 8-week, placebo-controlled clinical study SINGULAIR symptom of headache was associated with taking the drug in 1% of patients. OVERDOSAGE
Special information for the treatment of overdose SINGULAIR is not available.
